High School Devised Theatre Workshop
This program is a performance workshop for High School artists looking to strengthen physical acting techniques and gain experience in creating original performances. The course will use the study of movement and improvisation to develop stage presence, enhance imagination, heighten physical expressiveness, and build a strong connection to the text, environment, and ensemble. At the end of the workshop, students will have devised an original performance to be showcased in front of an invited audience. This is a rare opportunity to create and perform a brand-new play with a strong ensemble of peer artists.
Using the techniques of Stanislavski and Meisner, this class focuses on developing strong connections to the character, scene partner, and text in order to create truthful performances. The High School Scene Study Class is open to students who are passionate about investigating what it means to craft a powerful scene as an actor. This class will give any student the necessary tools to advance technique and flourish in a rehearsal process.
